TRISH'S TIPS FOR FINDING THE PERFECT DRESS

Planning the wedding of your dreams starts with two fundamental elements – 1. The perfect partner, and 2. The perfect dress. If you are reading this and planning your big day you likely have number 1 sorted… and the good news is, you have come to the right place to find number 2. The search to find the perfect dress can be overwhelming at the beginning and with so many styles, cuts, fabrics and silhouettes to choose from, it might seem like an impossible feat. That’s where we come in! Trish and her team share their top tips for finding “The One”.

1. Start Early.

When you first get engaged and set a date it can seem like you have all the time in the world until the big day, but locking in a wedding dress consultation early will take a lot of stress off the planning process. We suggest that brides book about 8-12 months in advance for a custom dress. This gives you the best opportunity to secure exactly what you want. Don’t have that much time? Don’t panic! We also have off the rack options available at our sister store Yours Truly if you need a dress with a quick turnaround.

2. Shop with an open mind.

Some brides come in with an exact vision of what they want, and others have no idea. The best way to know that you have found “The One.” is to shop with an open mind. Try on a few different styles and figure out what suits your body shape and wedding day aesthetic. Narrow it down, talk to us about your likes/dislikes of different styles and we can go from there.

3. Narrow down your theme/aesthetic.

Whether you are going for a simple, classic look or something more modern and glamorous. It helps to lock in an aesthetic beforehand so that you can go into your appointment with an idea of how you want to look on the big day. Choosing three specific words to describe your vibe can help narrow down your dress selections.

4. Bring inspiration photos.

One person’s version of ‘Classic’ could be completely different to someone else’s. It helps to bring in some photos of dresses that you like the look of so that we can find something similar for you to try on. Pinterest is a great tool for inspiration images, or better yet - visit the Trish Peng instagram page to see some of our recent dresses and styles our past brides have chosen.

5. Stay true to your personal style.

While having someone there to help you choose is always helpful, it is your opinion that really matters! You are the one wearing the dress for the whole day so finding something that you are comfortable and confident in is the most important thing! The perfect dress will find you and when you try it on for the first time, you will know!

6. Enjoy the process

Shopping for your wedding dress should be one of the highlights of the planning process. Our aim is to take the stress off you and ensure it is a memory that you will treasure forever. Invite your close family or friends, sip champagne, enjoy some high tea and take it all in. We have a few options available for consultations depending on the experience that you desire.
