“The moment I tried on the Lydia gown, I instantly fell in love. It was only the second dress I tried on, and I never imagined finding my dream wedding dress would be so easy!”
Tell us the story of how you met your partner
My partner and I met in year 8 of high school! We offical started dating when we were 14 years old! We have been together through every high and low since then! Now after 12 years we are finally Husband and Wife YAYYYY!
Tell us about the proposal story…
We got engaged while on holiday to the Mornington Peninsula with my family, celebrating my Dad’s 60th birthday.
On the 30th of March (Dad’s 60th birthday), Joel and I woke up early for a sunrise walk, something we love doing together, and he was acting completely normal. Little did I know, with the help of Mum, he had smuggled the engagement ring onto the trip and had even scoped out the perfect cliff lookout on Google Maps the day before.
We walked to this beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean, just the two of us, watching the sunrise while testing out the digital camera he’d bought for our upcoming Europe trip.
We set the camera up to take a photo together, and instead, Joel got down on one knee and proposed. It was calm, intimate, thoughtful, and completely perfect.
After soaking in the moment together, we ran through the streets of Rye to meet my mum and dad, who were waiting for us at a café, ready to celebrate with us.
What was your biggest source of inspiration when planning your wedding? Did you have a specific theme/aesthetic?
I really pulled from the style of our venue (Kwila Lodge). Classic, romantic, fresh!
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Getting to the end of the aisle and holding my husband’s hands.
Also entering our reception and all of our guests up on their feet cheering and dancing.
Tell us the story behind your dress
The moment I tried on the Lydia gown I got SO EXCITED! I had my year 12 formal dress hand made because I really struggled to find anything I loved. I thought my wedding dress experience was going end up going down the same lengthy path. But THANKFULLY no!! The Lydia gown was the 2nd wedding dress I tried on. I instantly felt amazing! It is so structured and hugs in all the right places. I love how crisp white the fabric is too!
Did you have a honeymoon after the big day? If so, where did you go?
Currently writing this lying by the pool in Hamilton Island. Staying at “The Sundays” - it is absolutely perfect! I could not recommend this hotel enough!!
What piece of advice would you give to future brides who are planning their special day?
Don't get caught up in others/don’t focus too much energy on others, they will be there for you if they want to. Focus on you and your partner! Thats what the day is all about.
What does it feel like to be a Trish Peng bride?
BLOODY AMAZING!!
