How did you meet?
We both knew very early on that this was something special. They say that when you know, you know, and that was certainly true for us. It was on our first date down Mission Bay beachfront in Auckland that we lost ourselves in deep conversation. It was clear we both had a great love for our family and friends, which we both wanted in a life partner. Also, our passion for good food and drinks which has found us a few too many cocktails deep too many times…
When and where did you get married?
After one postponed date and a few variations with guest numbers right up to the last minute we finally had our dream day on the 30.03.2022 at the beautiful Hunting Lodge.
What was the theme/aesthetic of your big day?
We both really wanted a more relaxed vibe for our friends and family to enjoy. Our theme was sleek and timeless. The venue itself is stunning so wanted make the most of the surrounding scenery. Our colours we went with were very earthy and neutral to go with the grapevines and black barn.
What was the biggest source of inspiration while planning your wedding?
Our style was inspired mostly by wedding blogs/ Instagram and Pinterest. Lots of chats with previous brides and sharing with friends to gather ideas and inspo.
The most memorable moment from your day:
Without a doubt it was the ceremony. We had put so much time and effort into planning the rest of the night, we thought that would be the main event, and whilst the reception was so much fun, the ceremony was so emotional and we didn’t realise how incredible it would feel to stand in front of everyone we love and marry each other.
The biggest hit on the dance floor was:
My mum and dad were the absolute hit on the dance floor. They do dance lessons in their spare time just for fun and it was the night for them to show off their new moves. I could see the love between them sparkle and they were a show stopper. They were just too cute.
We honeymooned in:
The tropical Rarotonga. It was well deserved after a stressful lead up to the wedding day with COVID restrictions. We really enjoyed just relaxing and lying on the beach with a cocktail in hand.
Did you always have an idea in mind of what you wanted your dress to look like?
I always wanted something feminine, floral and flowy. It needed to be something a-bit different and unique. Trish and the team were so amazing. The entire process from start to finish, Trish would give me so many options and ideas to bring my dream dress to life. In the end it turned out much more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. I felt like a true princess.
