How did you meet? We officially started dating in January 2017 after swiping right on Tinder and going on some wonderful dates, but we had previously known one another through our work.

When and where did you get married?
We got married on 20 February 2021 at New Zealand High Country in Queenstown. It is a place that is special to both of us, as my family have holidayed in Arrowtown for a number of years and Albie's family in Cromwell. After a stressful week when Auckland went back into Level 3 and the rest of NZ at Level 2, we were worried we would need to alter our day to meet the COVID restrictions but thankfully we went back into Level 1 on the Wednesday night before our wedding.

What was the theme/aesthetic of your big day? We wanted a very relaxing, enjoyable day for our guests with great food, wines and company (a few of our favourite things!) our aesthetic was a very neutral colour palette to celebrate the raw beauty of Queenstown.

What was the biggest source of inspiration while planning your wedding? Initially I spent a lot of time on Pinterest, Instagram and reading wedding magazines but after COVID and seeing so many brides having to change and amend their day. We just decided to plan it for how 'we' wanted it to be - with a focus on food and wine as they are something we really enjoy, a really relaxed and happy vibe. The day ran really well with no hiccups and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

The most memorable moment from your day:
Midway through the reception at 'golden hour' while our guests were enjoying their main, Albie and I snuck away to our ceremony spot with our amazing photographer and spent some alone time together with the most beautiful light and view ahead of us. It was so nice to take some time just for ourselves, before we rejoined everyone for the remainder of the reception - plus we got some amazing photos at this time!

The biggest hit on the dance floor was: Wagon Wheel (it was a Southland wedding, are you surprised?)

We honeymooned in: Ordinarily, we were intending to travel to Edinburgh as our friends are getting married there but due to COVID we had to re-plan. We travelled to beautiful Northland and spent some time in Russell, Paihia, Cape Reinga and travelled down to the Coromandel Peninsula where our honeymoon got cut short due to another Auckland lockdown so we had an abrupt ending but it was a great escape!

Did you always have an idea in mind of what you wanted your dress to look like? I had no idea, I originally thought a plain and white dress - I had tried on the Matilda dress of Trish's at a bridal store in Wanaka, but it wasn't the right size so when I was in Auckland booked in with Trish to try it on in my size. I loved it, but Trish suggested I try on the Angelica dress of hers - and it was love at first sight. We used a lot of the design to create my own custom dress, but altered particular parts of it to suit my body shape and had a lot of fun picking the lace out that I wanted!
